Early attempts at life extension research - looking for alternatives to the "standard model" of bio chemistry

Even as early as 2000 I was researching all kinds of gimmicks and even dabbled in alchemy for 2 years with my own little lab. I never got anywhere although I did learn quite a lot and met with interesting people, so not a complete loss. I even translated a few alchemy books from old German into contemporary English (before google translate was a thing) - and even now AI can not reliably translate those old texts because it very much requires to understand the context. Written German was not codified then.
